In 1938 Redcliffe Town Council approved plans for a modern cafe caretakers residence and bathing pavilion at Clontarf .Access to the beach and sharkproof swimming enclosure was via a subway under the road .The pavilion was sold following WW 11 .The dressing rooms became a cafe and then a milk Bar with groceries , takeaway food and fresh seafood .In 1947 the Hornibrook Post Office opened in looks like the same building on Hornibrook Esplanade the name was soon altered to the Clontarf Beach Post Office and there were two mail deliveries to the residents a day and one on Saturday morning .(photos and information Redcliffe Museum ).
