IAG appoints Nick Hawkins as new CEO – Sydney Morning Herald
Incoming chief executive of the Insurance Australia Group Nick Hawkins says the industry is not set up to cover the financial fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
“That is not the way our industry has been set up.”
Mr Hawkins said he had sympathy for decision-makers forced to balance the economy with public health but ultimately threw his support behind the lockdowns. “What we support is the governments view that prioritising safety is part of this pandemic and having to make tough decisions to ensure were all safe.”
