No.4 seed Daniil Medvedev has won the Australian Opens battle of the Russians, beating Andrey Rublev in straight sets 7-5, 6-3, 6-2 in the Rod Laver Arena heat on Wednesday afternoon.
After a tense first set, Medvedev pulled away in the second set and then broke early in the third to demoralise his No.7 seed opponent. Rublev looked physically and mentally spent for the majority of the final set.
