Korea JoongAng Daily says Hyundai halted diesel engine development in 2020, with no next-gen powertrains coming. However, current engines will be updated.

As the automotive industry is shifting towards electrification due to increasingly stringent emissions regulations, diesel engines are the most vulnerable to face extinction.
