Hunt for survivors after Seacor Power lift vessel capsizes off Louisiana, leaving one dead and 12 missing

The US Coast Guard is searching for 12 people who are missing after their ship capsized in hurricane-force winds off the coast of Louisiana.

- The nearest weather gauge showed 30 minutes of 120kph winds, followed by hours of winds over 80kph
- Private vessels responded initially, saving four people, with the Coast Guard saving another two
One person has been found dead and six survivors have been pulled from rough seas.
Coast Guard Captain Will Watson said winds in the area were 80 to 90 miles per hour (130 to 145 kilometres per hour) and seas were 7 to 9 feet (2.1 to 2.7 metres) when the Seacor Power lift vessel overturned.
