How Victoria’s new coronavirus traffic light system for border restrictions will work
From 6:00pm AEDT today, practically everyone who wants to travel to Victoria from interstate needs to apply for a permit.
Premier Daniel Andrews described the new process as a “commonsense traffic light system” that will make it easier to understand the rules based on where you are.
Here is how the permit will work.
What’s new?
Under this new system, everyone needs to apply for a permit via Service Victoria, no matter what part of the country they’re coming from.
A permit system for incoming travellers was already in place for people coming from COVID-affected parts of the country.
But previously, only people travelling from Greater Brisbane or New South Wales needed to apply for a valid permit or exemption before travelling.
