How Victoria will close its border to New South Wales by Saturday

It’s been barely a month since the border reopened between Victoria and New South Wales, but it will be shut again from 11:59pm on Friday, this time from the Victorian side.

Acting Premier Jacinta Allan said the difficult decision was made based on public health advice, after New South Wales recorded 10 new coronavirus cases today.

Victoria has now recorded eight new coronavirus cases in the past two days as part of an outbreak authorities believe is linked to a traveller who returned to Victoria from NSW.

“We have to do everything we possibly can to lock in the situation we have here in Victoria, keep ahead of where the case numbers might be, particularly in light of the case numbers coming out of New South Wales,” Ms Allan said.
