Mathew Ryan turned to Australia’s all-time leading goalscorer for advice when he was suddenly frozen out of Brighton’s Premier League team – and it paid off.

The window was going along and I made a phone call to Tim Cahill – obviously very well-respected domestically, internationally, globally, Ryan told the Herald in his first external interview since landing at the north London club.
