After a horror outbreak which saw hospitals overwhelmed by COVID-19 patients, officials in the US state of Texas hope the curve is now starting to plateau. But doctors who witnessed the devastation firsthand fear what will happen next.

Doctor Bela Patel vividly remembers her worst day of the pandemic. Her hospital in Houston lost three patients in the space of a few hours.
