In 1956, the Soviet Union beat Yugoslavia to claim a gold medal at the MCG in the Olympic Games in Melbourne.
Some 65 years later, the grandson of striker Sergei Salnikov, the man who scored two decisive goals to help the Soviet Union through to the semi-final stage, is looking to emulate his maternal grandfather and become a Melbourne champion of his own.
Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas even carries a much-loved T-shirt reading USSR 1956, in reference to the grandfather he never met, in his luggage when arriving in Melbourne, according to the BBC.
