The fascinating story of how three young Indigenous boys were kidnapped and taken to Hong Kong before being rescued by an unlikely hero has been uncovered by a Darwin-based historian.

Medlone was born about 1835 on the Cobourg Penninsula, 350 kilometres east of Darwin, about three years before the Victoria Settlement was established at the nearby Port Essington.
