How NSW’s COVID-19 cluster on Sydney’s northern beaches and border closures could change your holiday plans

It’s usually the busiest time of the year for Australia’s tourism industry.
But the widespread border closures due to the growing COVID-19 cluster on Sydney’s northern beaches are expected to cost almost $3 billion, according to the industry’s leading body.
The Tourism and Transport Forum estimates the overall economic impact of cancelled travel to and from NSW due to the latest border closures will amount to a loss of $2.97 billion.
That is a daily loss of $125 million that domestic visitors into NSW will not be spending.
At the same time, other states stand to miss out on $172 million a day spent on tourism and hospitality by visitors from NSW.
