A group of Americans must have had the surprise of their lives when they got a surprise phone call from Gloria Steinem or Meghan Markle.
The two activists were making cold calls to encourage people to vote in the upcoming US presidential election. But Steinem, a celebrated journalist and leader of the feminist movement in the 1960s and ’70s, said Markle wasn’t sure how she should go about introducing herself.
