Non-Covid health services in Irish hospitals may need to cease to facilitate critical care cases from Northern Ireland. Senior government sources reported Irish time that hospital beds in the republic may be needed in the event of a further increase in coronavirus cases in the north.
According to the sources, this could lead to the cancellation or postponement of non-Covid health services.
There are 317 Covid-19 cases being treated in hospitals in the north, 37 in intensive care.
