High-risk pregnancies treated at home to minimise COVID-19 exposure

A new program, allowing women with high-risk pregnancies to receive hospital treatment in their own home, could soon be rolled out across Queensland.

The 13-week pilot program was developed by Gold Coast University Hospital in response to COVID-19 to help free up hospital beds and protect expectant mothers during the height of the pandemic.

New mother Jamie-Lee Martis used the service after being diagnosed with cervical incompetence at 28 weeks.
