A state premier’s “significant” announcement has put the heat on the AFL to make a big decision.

The odds of Queensland hosting the 2020 AFL grand final at the Gabba in Brisbane appear to have shortened – but the door is wide open for a Perth Stadium date at full capacity.
Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan on Tuesday postponed Phase 5 restrictions for another two months in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The state will not leave Phase 4 restrictions until at least October 24 – the second of two proposed dates for the AFL grand final.
