Heart disease killed George Floyd during arrest, pathologist tells Derek Chauvin murder trial

A retired forensic pathologist has told the murder trial of the former police officer accused of killing George Floyd that Mr Floyd died of heart disease, not from having his neck knelt on.

- But Dr David Fowler said the fact that Mr Floyd could speak and groan meant his airway was not obstructed
- Both defence and prosecution agree Mr Floyd should have been given immediate attention when he went into cardiac arrest
Dr David Fowler testified that Mr Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died of a sudden heart rhythm disturbance as a result of his heart disease.
He was called as a witness by the defence team of white former police officer Derek Chauvin.
