Have you heard of Ephedra? It’s a plant species used in traditional herbal medicine and it’s a prohibited import.
As the pandemic continues to evolve, the Australian Border Force has seen a significant spike in the number of prohibited drug imports, purported to ease the symptoms of COVID-19.
While Hydroxychloroquine is the most common, there has also been an increase in Ephedra with ABF officers detecting over 66 kilograms of the drug in April and May alone. Ephedra is a precursor to making Ephedrine, which can be used to manufacture the drug ‘ice’.
