I.In spring 2019 astrophysicists were able to announce a milestone in research with gravitational waves. For the first time it was possible to fuse a black hole and a neutron star directly using the gravitational wave detectors Ligo and Virgo to observe. The radiation released when the huge celestial bodies merged could therefore be picked up by the highly sensitive detectors.
