Grammys see Beyonce, Taylor Swift make history in strong year for female artists
Several records have been broken at the Grammys, with female solo artists taking out the big four categories at a socially distanced event in Los Angeles.
The ceremony was different to other COVID-era awards shows — there were almost no video screens, with Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and others accepting their awards in person at a small, seated event.
After copping considerable heat and boycotts for years for snubbing artists of colour or relegating them to genre-based categories — including from The Weeknd, who called the voting process corrupt — The Grammys went some way in 2021 to making amends.
