Gould’s plea as NRL considers breaking the rules for 16yo Souths freak – Fox Sports
Respected former coach turned commentator Phil Gould has pleaded with ARLC chairman Peter V’landys not to let 16-year-old Joseph Suaalii play in the NRL, and wants the game’s age limit to be raised from 18 to 21.

Teen star Suaalii is the subject of an ongoing and somewhat bitter tug-of-war between South Sydney and Rugby Australia.
Rugby is attempting to pinch the young gun from rugby league and hes been identified as a future star of either code, whichever he chooses.
Hes being offered big money but now Vlandys is considering bending the NRL rules to allow Suaalii to play first grade before he turns 18.
