Google will make 2FA mandatory for Google accounts “soon,” provided that you’ve already given the service a secondary email or phone number.

Most security experts agree that two-factor authentication (2FA) is a critical part of securing your online accounts. Google agrees, but its taking an extra step: Its making two-factor authentication mandatory, and will start requiring it on Google accounts.
In a way, Google sees two-factor authentication as a replacement for passwords, which Mark Risher, Googles director of product management for identity and user security, in a statement called the single biggest threat to your online security….
