Good morning and happy Friday from #OnTheFrontline, this week we bring you Subeg!
Subeg joined the Queensland Ambulance Service family in 2019 when he began his career as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) at our Southport Operations Centre on the Gold Coast.
Subeg had spent several years in the Aviation and hospitality industries before deciding to embark on a new challenge when he moved to the Gold Coast from Uluru.
Subeg shared with us his first impressions of the EMD role and some of the experiences he has had in his journey so far, “the EMD position with the QAS attracted me straight away, this job involves a challenge on a daily basis and gives you a chance to help others and give back to the community a little. Every day is a different day as an EMD, you just never know what is in store for the day, be it in the role of call taking or dispatching, every Triple Zero (000) call received has the potential to be someone, somewhere, fighting for their life and I have the honour of being able to assist in their time of need.”
Subeg also told us that his role as an EMD ties in perfectly with his religious beliefs as a Sikh, to which one of the main principles is helping others when in need.
Thank you Subeg and all of our EMDs for being that reassuring voice at the other end of the line in a time of worry and despair. We’re so glad you chose to be a part of the QAS family Subeg, we are the lucky ones!
