Goldman Sachs’ chief lawyer, Karen Seymour, leaves as senior departures grow at bank – The Australian Financial Review
Karen Seymour, famous for prosecuting Martha Stewart and keeping executives out of trouble, will be replaced by former Obama White House counsel Kathy Ruemmler.
The position of general counsel at a global bank is a highly sought-after prize among top corporate lawyers. Its a role with a low turnover rate and is closely tied to the firms chief executive officer.
When Ms Seymour was picked by former Goldman CEO Lloyd Blankfein in 2017, Ms Ruemmler was a contender for the role and favoured by then-President David Solomon, said people with knowledge of the matter.
