Gold Coast and NQ’s tourism recovery to be slower than Brisbane’s
“The corporate or business travel market is forecast to recover more slowly, however business travel accounts for only one in 10 hotel nights on the Gold Coast while business travel accounts for more than 40 per cent of hotel nights in Sydney and Canberra.
“For tropical north Queensland, the figure is 15 per cent.”
Ms Labine-Romain said the recovery would also be affected by capacity challenges, including aviation capacity, tourism business viability in the short-to-medium term, and the loss of human capital, along with consumer confidence and travel sentiment.
Australia was expected to face an extremely competitive landscape with other countries looking to reactivate their tourism industries.
