Gold boom prompts Newcrest to ponder Telfer extension – The Australian Financial Review
Australian gold miners are extending the life of their mines with the stroke of a pen by raising their gold price assumptions.

Fresh from reporting Newcrest’s best profit in eight years, chief executive Sandeep Biswas said his company had not deviated from using $US1200 per ounce to calculate its gold reserves, but he said the future of Telfer could look much rosier if current gold prices were assumed.
