Leon Cameron’s former understudy Matthew Nicks has masterminded a stunning 12-point upset win for Adelaide that has put a huge dent in Greater Western Sydney’s finals hopes.
Nicks was Leon Cameron’s senior assistant during the Giants’ absorbing run to a maiden grand final. Lured away to Adelaide by the opportunity to coach in his own right, it’s been a hard slog so far this year – but this 8.11 (59) to 7.5 (47) result was easily their best performance under him and a rich reward for a spirited performance.
