George Floyd arrest breached Minneapolis police policy, chief says in Derek Chauvin murder trial

The police actions immediately prior to the death of George Floyd violated Minneapolis police policy, according to court testimony from the force’s police chief. 

Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said the decision to kneel on Mr Floyd’s neck by the now-fired officer Derek Chauvin was “in no way, shape or form” part of department policy or training, “and it is certainly not part of our ethics or our values”. 

Mr Chauvin, 45, is charged with the murder and manslaughter of Mr Floyd’s death.
