Geelong’s Tom Hawkins misses training session with sore throat ahead of grand final

Geelong insists Tom Hawkins will be fit to play in the AFL grand final against Richmond despite the Coleman medallist missing Tuesday’s training session through illness.

Hawkins, who kicked two goals in the Cat’s 40-point win over Brisbane in last Saturday night’s preliminary final, was instructed by club officials to stay away from teammates after feeling unwell.

The power forward has a sore throat, an ailment believed to have been passed on by one of his children.
