Gastro outbreaks hit hundreds of Victorian childcare centres – The Age
The state’s Health Department has confirmed what many parents and carers already knew – rates of gastroenteritis are unseasonably high.
Dr Abhi Verma is a GP in Casey, one of the worst-hit council areas, which includes the suburbs of Cranbourne, Fountain Gate and Narre Warren. He said he had seen a high number of cases in the past four to six weeks.
Dr Verma, who is also a spokesman for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in Victoria, said it wasnt just young children who attend childcare being affected, but also their parents, grandparents and other carers.
