When Reddit’s wallstreetbets (WSB) broke the stock market this week, lots of people were introduced to a bunch of new slang words.
As the singer Dionne Warwick, who has a reputation for using Twitter to learn new things, asked: “What are stonks and why is it a trending subject?”
For Warwick and others among the uninitiated, here is a guide to understanding some common lingo you’ll find on Reddit threads about GameStop.

An intentional misspelling of “stocks” that originated with an internet meme.
