An international team of astronomers has confirmed the existence of a new planet not inside our Solar System, but beyond it.
Its called Gliese 486b. Its only 26 light years away, making it one of our closest neighbours.
Because its hot (over 430°C), relatively close and regularly passes in front of its sun (more on that in a moment), its one of our best chances to study atmospheres around rocky planets like our own.
Its a pretty huge discovery and made it to the prestigious pages of the journal…
