Fraser Island bushfire still burning a month after blaze started by illegal campfire

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Rangers are searching for campers who are thought to have sparked a large bushfire that has burned through more than 25,000 hectares of national park on Fraser Island.
The blaze has been burning for a month and is unlikely to be extinguished until significant rain reaches the island.
There could still be closures during the upcoming Christmas school holidays.
The fire has forced the evacuation of 10 camping zones and a ranger station on the World Heritage-listed island.
Residents in one of the island’s townships are preparing as the fire approaches.
