Iron ore miner Fortescue has reported a record profit and paid founder Andrew Forrest billions in dividends.

Fortescue Metals group founder Andrew Forrest will receive $1.11 billion in final dividends, after the iron ore miner paid out a bigger than expected dividend on the back of its biggest ever profit.
Strong iron ore prices and strong production drove Fortescue’s net profit 49 per cent higher to $US4.73 billion
Analyst consensus measured by VUMA had pointed to a $US4.76 billion net profit after tax.
