Former leader Lawrence Springborg to run for presidency of Liberal National Party

The former leader of Queensland’s Liberal National Party (LNP), Lawrence Springborg, has confirmed he intends to run for the presidency of the party at the state convention in July.
Key points:
- Mr Springborg has become Mayor of Goondiwindi since leaving state parliament
- He says he has no intentions of leaving that job if his tilt for the LNP presidency is successful
- Mr Springborg previously served as health minister and opposition leader
In a statement, Mr Springborg said: “If successful, I look forward to ensuring that the LNP has the culture, capacity and policies to gain the approval of Queenslanders.”
