‘Forgotten residents’ fume over Inland Rail environmental impact snub

A dual-gauge rail line from Acacia Ridge to the Port of Brisbane is now used daily by Queensland’s narrow-gauge trains.
A second rail line has been decommissioned but is available for standard-gauge rail operators if an access application is made.

Environmental impact studies are now being completed on each of the other four legs of the Inland Rail project in Queensland.
These are greenfield legs, largely with no existing rail lines.
Queensland Co-ordinator-General Toni Power confirmed on Friday afternoon that no environmental impact study would be undertaken into the final and fifth Queensland section because it is along an existing rail corridor.
