Ford Mustang Mach-E: discarded design sketches revealed – CarAdvice

The evolution of the upcoming Ford Mustang Mach-E has been revealed during an exclusive live-stream event.
Ford executives shared images showing early sketches and design concepts of the fully-electric Mustang SUV with members of the Mach-E Club.
The Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s performance plug-in electric SUV, with five variants available to buyers overseas: standard and extended range models, offered in either rear- or all-wheel-drive, and a range-topping GT model.
Power is expected from 198kW to 342kW, but driving range figures are yet to be published.
From the design proposals shown, it appears the Ford Mach-E was developed from the Mustang coupe’s front-end, refined to the final iteration on the production car shown below.
Particular attention was given to the rear three-quarter flank of the SUV, with bolstered rear arches and a coupe-like D-pillar. The grille area evolved from a concave nose to a pronounced convex shape.
As with the recently launched Bronco off-road sub-brand – designed to compete directly with Jeep – the Mustang badge may be about to launch as its own sub-brand, as reported in November 2019.
Meantime, although the Ford Mustang Mach E will be manufactured in right-hand-drive and sold in the UK, for now Ford Australia says there are no plans to introduce the vehicle locally.
