Flooding for north Qld as ex-cyclone lingers
The weather bureau issued a severe thunderstorm warning on Wednesday morning for the Ingham area, about 110 kilometres north-west of Townsville, after 112 millimetres of rain fell at the Pump Station weather station in one hour before 7am — taking the 22-hour total to 231 millimetres.
While the ex-tropical cyclone is now located off the coast of Townsville, significant rain was still expected for coastal areas as it moved south in the coming days.Credit:Queensland Police Service
“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours,” the warning stated.
