Firearm law accidentally left out of regulations
The Courier-Mail can reveal the offence was accidentally left out of a new 2016 weapons regulation, but was fixed by the government late this year.The offence is punishable by up to 10 penalty units, which is the equivalent of a fine of about $1,300.Police Minister Mark Ryan’s office has defended the mishap as an “inadvertent omission”, saying it was considered to be “low risk” – pointing out that only an empty magazine could have been purchased.According to the explanatory notes of the…
