Finding Nemo: citizen science discovers new spider – Sydney Morning Herald
Meet Maratus nemo, the pint-sized peacock spider known for its vibrant colours and dancing displays.
Ms Holliday was out doing fish sampling at Mount Burr Swamp, in far southern South Australia, when she noticed the spider on a leaf in the wetlands.
He had a plain back but his orangey-red face is what stood out and I hadnt seen anything like it before, so I knew it had to be a new one, Ms Holliday says.
