Female authors who published under male names recognised for their work – 9Honey

Historically, female authors concealed their identity with a male pseudonym, in order to have their work published.
Famous authors like George Eliot, and Vernon Lee, were actually women, Mary Ann Evans and Violet Paget.
It was a common tactic for pre-20th century female authors, to get around sexist publishing laws and gendered biases.
Now, their compelling works of fiction are being republished – this time with their own names on the cover.
