Feeling sad… I don’t think our resident kookaburras little baby has survived. I noticed the egg shell on the ground last Thursday & assumed it has just hatched. (Although I don’t remember seeing the shells on the ground last year)
They had 3 babies last year which all survived but this year only laid 1 egg. The parents made a bit of a ruckus a couple of days ago & seemed a bit agitated. They kept taking turns going in & out of the hollow where the baby was.
Since then I’ve noticed no parent stays in the hollow overnight & they are no longer taking food in. Mum, dad & one of last years babies are here all day just sitting in the tree above the hollow. They still take turns going in & out of the hollow but it’s more…
