Federal government adjusts phase 1b coronavirus vaccination rollout to include more Aboriginal Australians

Just over a week out from the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccinations for the phase 1b priority group, the Australian government has quietly changed the parameters to include more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Key points:
- The phase 1b vaccine priority group includes elderly and immunocompromised adults, adults with a disability and some workers
- The stage now includes “beginning to vaccinate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people”
- Previously, it had specified Aboriginal adults over the age of 55
The ABC understands the decision has been made to assist the logistics of delivering the vaccines to remote communities.
