Fashion retailer Colette saved from collapse, but more than 100 stores to close – Sydney Morning Herald

The handbag and accessories retailer was bought out of administration by former Myer boss Bernie Brookes.

Mr Brookes said he acknowledged his decision to purchase the business would be viewed as a “contrarian investment” given the pressures facing bricks and mortar retailers, but he said he intended Colette to have a stronger online offering.
“It had 140 stores. If you owned that business today and you were thinking about where you want it to be in three to five years’ time, the answer is 35 stores and a big website, and that’s exactly what we’ve gone to,” he said.
