A former boyfriend of the woman at the centre of a historical rape allegation against Attorney-General Christian Porter has come forward, saying he would testify under oath to any inquiry about “relevant discussions” he had with her over the course of their more than 30-year friendship.

James Hooke, now a senior executive at Macquarie, is mentioned in the woman’s diary from the late 1980s and said he was making a public statement on Friday after being repeatedly contacted by the media.
