Australian stargazers are in for a treat this weekend with a spectacular meteor shower set to light up the night sky.
The annual Eta Aquarid meteor shower will see streaking lights and shooting stars visible above the country on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The light show is caused by bits of rock and ice that have broken off from Halleys comet, according to Astronomer Dr Brad Tucker from The Australian National University.
