Emergency services are backing community calls for a communication tower to be built at Teewah Beach.

The push comes after four people lost their lives along the stretch of beach last year, including a teen who was killed in a 4WD rollover and three people who drowned. The Noosa Local Disaster Management Group is applying for Federal Blackspot Program funding with most of the area currently without phone reception or a working radio tower.

Report on 7NEWS Sunshine Coast at 6pm.
