Electric vehicle tax undermines Daniel Andrews’ talk on climate – The Age
The state government is ploughing ahead with a policy that experts argue will negatively impact on the uptake of electric vehicles.
While other jurisdictions around the world are providing incentives such as tax breaks, free parking or the use of congestion-free lanes, Victoria is preparing to implement a tax that will reduce the number of EVs on our roads.
Even the United Kingdoms conservative party has vowed to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030. To achieve this, the British government will offer grants to lower the cost of EVs, give incentives to the battery manufacturing industry and build charging stations.
