The Parramatta Eels have nailed the final piece of the club’s recruitment and retention jigsaw puzzle by extending the contract of young gun hooker Reed Mahoney for a further two seasons.

On the back of adding Ryan Matterson and Reagan Campbell-Gillard to the blue and gold roster for this year, the Eels have been in negotiations with Mahoney for the majority of this season.

Despite interest from several rival clubs, Parramatta never intended to let the Sunshine Coast product play anywhere else.

The Eels have confirmed Mahoney has extended until the end of 2022 meaning the club has key position players Mitchell Moses, Clint Gutherson, Dylan Brown and Mahoney all signed.
Moses and Gutherson are both signed until the end of 2023 while Brown has an option in his contract for a fourth season in 2024.

Eels coach Brad Arthur has always stipulated Mahoney was expected to remain at the Eels.
Mahoney has put himself into Queensland State of Origin calculations this season and has made a name for himself since debuting in the back half of 2018.
The Mahoney signature is another strong result for Eels head of football Mark ONeill who has presided over the assembly of the current Parramatta roster.
