Elderly volunteer clocks up 7,000 hours to help disadvantaged youth learn to drive
A volunteer driving instructor in Logan has spent 7,000 hours of his life in the passenger seat, teaching disadvantaged youth how to drive.
Retired submariner, Ep Lammers, 86, has not only spent more than a decade helping teens and young adults get their driver’s licences, but has become a close friend and confidant to many of them.
“I take people as they come and I like to help them,” Mr Lammers said.
